Shakers!

Last Friday, we made musical shakers from old containers: we experimented with different contents for our container ( rice, beans, dried peas) and chose which made the sound we liked best to fill them. Then we decorated them and brought them home - we hope we haven't been too noisy!

The Garden Centre

Our new Aistear theme is The Garden Centre. Here we are at our different stations:
Dylan making play-doh fruit and veg

Josh, the shopkeeper in the Garden centre.

Josh and Danielle are ready to advise on gardening products, plants and seeds.

Rebecca, Mozan and Krzysztof are busy potting plants and digging in the sand.
Road safety awareness at its best!

Malaz, Martynas, T.J. and Brenda designed and made seed packets for the Garden Centre.

Compliment bug party

We have been very good in Room 14, lining up quietly in the yard, showing good manners and being helpful so we gradully earned ourselves 10 compliment bugs. As a reward, we had a party and wore our own clothes to school. Well done everyone!

Cinderella Play

Before the Easter holidays, we went to see the play Cinderella in the hall - it was very funny and we loved it!

The Post Office

We've been learning about the post office in Aistear. We filled in passport forms, chose lotto numbers, bought stamps and wrote and posted letters, in the role play area. We also designed our own stamp, made a postman's map and practised writing our names and addresses in the writing area. In the construction area, we made postboxes with lego. Here are some pictures of us at work.

We even got to go down to the post office in Cavan and post a Valentine's card we had made ourselves, in an envelope we had addressed and stamped oursleves!! It should have arrived at our houses by now and we hope all our loved ones like their surprise!

Alakiy and Dawid post their cards.

Outside the post office! Letters posted and on their journey to our homes....

Happy Christmas!!

Last Friday, we had a special surprise visitor to the classroom: he had a red coat, trousers and hat, big black boots, a white beard and he was carrying a big black sack. Can you guess who it was?...that's right, good old Santa Claus!!! He brought us some sweets and we got a class photo with the man himself.

Today was the last day of school before our Christmas holidays. We had a special assembly in the hall for the giving out of awards and prizes for good attendance. Our class did really well, in fact we had the best attendance in the whole school this term  - well done Room 14, keep up the good work and keep coming to school!!
Here are our prize winners for from the draw and also thse who got certificates for 100% attendance  this term:
Good job Keeley, Danielle, Malaz, Alakiy, Emilija, Zaya, Brenda, Justinas, Leo, Dawid and Mozan.

Happy Christmas everyone - keep safe and enjoy the holidays!
